Franciacorta is a hilly area located between Brescia and the southern shores of Lake Iseo. Its name derives from Franchae curtes, which were the properties of Cluniac monasteries that enjoyed special economic privileges such as exemption from the payment of taxes, or franchigie. An ancient Moraine land, it is dedicated to the cultivation of grapevines. ArteconNoi, as a member of “La Strada del vino Franciacorta”, organises tours through this magnificent countryside to discover its architectural treasures. This beautiful landscape, in fact, is characterised by the presence of ancient monasteries such as the Romanesque complex of San Pietro in Lamosa, the Abbey of San Nicola in Rodengo Saiano or the Monastery dell’Annunciata in Rovato. Wandering through Franciacorta you can also admire medieval castles and noble palazzos and villas. Guided tours of Franciacorta can be combined with visits to the wineries to learn how they make their fabulous wines.
